Staying In the Groove in your 50's

Ever wondered how our bodies change every few years? Twenties seem to be full of life and spunk; in our thirties we try to keep up the stamina we possessed in the previous decade. By the time our Forties descend, we are either peri - menopausal, with symptoms varying from mood-swings, hot/ cold flushes, anxiety etc.
Some women have the support of family, however that may not be enough, journalling symptoms along with triggers always helps. Start with how your body feels when you wake up. Try and test what suits you, give up the routine caffeine boost that you are addicted to. Try concoctions like kahwa (during winters) and switch to lemon/ ginger / turmeric water in summers.
Overnight, soaked dry fruits(almonds/walnut/raisins/figs) give a great boost to one's metabolism and spirits in the morning. Starting the day right sets the tone for what is to come. Once your bowels have cleared, a thirty-minute exercise routine is ideal.
Eat small, balanced meals, personally I like to consume something every 2-3 hours.
For someone like me who has kept fasts throughout my 30's and early 40's, it has become a task as i approach 50. The solution is simple , do not try and achieve the impossible, just set small goals on a daily basis to avoid the angst of feeling "incomplete" at the end of the day.
