With summer creeping up slowly but surely time for some hydration tips.
The homemade nimbu paani/lemonade, tops the list whether you like it sweet/salted/with cumin powder is a personal choice.
Chach or salted lassi is a close second, easy on the stomach, cooling and acts as a digestive.
Sweet lassi is for those who need or crave sweet drinks. Healthier than colas or tea/coffee. Yogurt based hence aids digestion.
For those who need a bit of fizz a Banta (Indian lemon soda) whilst shopping gives you that boost.
Consume at least 1.5-2 litres water in twenty-four hours.
Shakes and smoothies with your choice of fruit and beverage (yogurt /milk)
Substitute white sugar with cane/raw sugar, for a healthier option.
Always keep ORS sachets handy if you are sportsperson or your work requires you to be outdoors during summer.
Those celebrating the festival of colours this week must keep themselves hydrated. especially if they are consuming alcohol/bhaang. Play responsibly.
Reminds me of an incident more than a decade ago. We drove down to a relative's place for their annual Holi bash. I had decided not to have alcohol that day. The relative offered me a small khullar of bhaang with Thandai. It was delicious. i had two full kullars. The relatives were nice and happy and kept bingeing on sweets post bhaang, I on the other hand had my first panic attack. My heart rate was over 150bpm. i was advised to only consume water since sugar increases the high/ heart rate. It took 48 hours for the feeling to subside. A couple of my friends at another party needed to go to the emergency room for a drip (Intravenous drip). That was the first and last time i consumed Bhaang. People who are predisposed to anxiety must avoid the same at all times.
Enjoy the sunny festive season, have a spirited Holi. Wishing everyone a happy and abundant month. Cheers!!
